The SPD politician Bärbel Bas (56) is one of the "old hands" in the Bundestag. She has represented Duisburg there as a direct candidate since 2009. Now she has managed to enter the "House of Representatives" again. In the last legislative period, Bas was President of the Bundestag and made a name for herself nationwide. She knows the health care system well: after training as an office assistant and social insurance clerk, she completed a degree in health insurance business administration and human resources management. Bas worked for the BKK for many years. From 2019 to 2021, she was deputy chairwoman of the SPD parliamentary group and was also responsible for health there. (hom)
