According to preliminary data from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the number of regular insolvencies filed in Germany rose by 2.4 percent in June 2025 compared to the same month last year.

More regular insolvencies filed in June
In April 2024, claims amounted to approximately €11.4 billion. This decline in claims, coupled with a simultaneous increase in the number of corporate insolvencies, is due to the fact that more economically significant companies filed for insolvency in April 2024 than in April 2025. In April 2025, there were a total of 6.1 corporate insolvencies per 10,000 companies in Germany. The transport and warehousing sector accounted for the highest number of insolvencies per 10,000 companies, with 11.3 cases. This was followed by the construction and hospitality sectors, each with 9.8 insolvencies per 10,000 companies. There were 6,328 consumer bankruptcies in April 2025. This represents an increase of 0.8 percent compared to April 2024, according to Destatis.
