In the war between Israel and Iran, Hezbollah in Lebanon has been holding back for a while. But now it is warning Israel and the United States, calling the death threats against Iran's spiritual leader "foolish." Israel, for its part, says it is continuing its actions against Hezbollah.

The Israeli army says it has killed a Hezbollah commander in southern Lebanon. According to the military's report on X, Yassin Abdel Menam Ezz al-Din was "eliminated" in an airstrike. He allegedly planned attacks on northern Israel and attempted to strengthen the terrorist organization's artillery forces. His actions constituted a "flagrant violation" of the agreements between Israel and Lebanon, the statement said. The attack reportedly took place last night in the Nabatiya region.

The Lebanese news agency NNA reported that the victim was riding a motorcycle at the time of the attack. Another person was injured by shrapnel. Hezbollah has not commented on casualties within its ranks for some time.

A ceasefire has been in effect between Israel and the Iranian-backed Hezbollah since the end of November. However, both sides accuse each other of mutual violations. The Israeli military continues to launch attacks in Lebanon almost every day, resulting in deaths or injuries almost daily.

Israel also announced further attacks: "The Israeli Defense Forces continue to monitor and thwart the terrorist organization Hezbollah's attempts to promote a willingness to harm the State of Israel under the guise of war with Iran, and will continue to work to eliminate any threat to the citizens of the State of Israel."

Hezbollah condemns death threats against Khamenei

Meanwhile, Hezbollah in Lebanon expressed its solidarity with Iran, which was attacked by Israel, and called death threats against its supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei "foolish and reckless." According to the Hezbollah statement, they originated from Israel and the United States and could have catastrophic consequences.

Such threats are an insult to hundreds of millions of devout Muslims and supporters of the so-called resistance (against Israel). The Iranian-backed militia in Lebanon is "more determined than ever" to adhere to Khamenei's leadership and stands united behind his stance in the conflict with the US and Israel.

Hezbollah has so far remained muted in the war between Israel and Iran. It has been significantly weakened since the war with Israel last fall.
