On Tuesday night, Kyiv experienced one of the heaviest Russian airstrikes since the beginning of the war. A cruise missile hit a high-rise building in the capital. Authorities are now revising the death toll upward.

In the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, the number of people killed in the massive Russian attacks has risen to 22. Six more bodies were pulled from the rubble of a partially destroyed nine-story building, civil defense officials said this morning after operations last night.

According to the agency, 17 people died there alone in Tuesday's attacks; a total of 22 people were killed and 134 injured in the capital. Rescue efforts are ongoing, it said. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko stated that a Ch-101 cruise missile hit the nine-story high-rise directly.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attacks on the capital as Russian terrorism. Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin is also expected to speak about his more than three-year-long war against Ukraine at the international economic forum now beginning in St. Petersburg. A meeting with representatives of major news agencies is planned for the first day, who will ask questions about Russian politics and the economy.

Last night, Russian forces again carried out drone strikes on Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, they deployed 58 combat drones. Twelve drones were shot down, and 18 others were diverted from their course using electronic warfare, the air force reported on Telegram.
