FW-WRN: Fire in a garden shed threatened to spread to a residential building

On the night of Whitsun Sunday, the Central Fire Brigade was alerted at 4:41 a.m. to Brevingstrasse in Werne-Evenkamp with the alarm code "FIRE_2 - unclear fire // flames visible // loud bangs heard." At 4:43 a.m., due to additional calls and information, the control center increased the code to "FIRE_3 - garden shed on fire // threatens to spread to residential building" and alerted the entire Central Fire Brigade and the fire department management.

Already on the approach, heavy smoke was noticeable from the corner of Stockumer Straße and Ostring, prompting the Stockum fire brigade to be alerted. Upon arrival, enormous flames were visible at the rear of a residential building, prompting the Werne fire department to be put on full alert.

A closer investigation revealed that a garden shed and the surrounding vegetation were fully ablaze. The fire threatened to spread to the adjacent house, so a fire hose was immediately set up to block the house. Three C-hoses were deployed to fight the fire from three different sides. During the extinguishing measures, a total of two gas cylinders stored in the garden shed vented through the safety valve due to the enormous heat. These were secured and cooled during the operation. The fire was prevented from spreading to the adjacent house. Stored firewood that had been stored between the house and the garden shed also caught fire and had to be extinguished. No one was injured during the operation.

A big thank you goes to several residents of Brevingstrasse who brought coffee and cold drinks to the emergency services in the early morning hours. This isn't something to be taken for granted, but it certainly shows our appreciation for our volunteers!

60 emergency personnel from all units of the Werne Volunteer Fire Department, the Werne City Rescue Service, and the police were on duty. The operation was reported to have ended at approximately 6:45 a.m.
