Another striker for 1860: Steinkötter comes on a free transfer

Justin Steinkötter will return to the 3rd division next season. The striker joins TSV 1860 Munich on a free transfer.

TSV 1860 Munich has already strengthened its striker position with the addition of Kevin Volland and Florian Niederlechner. Another alternative for this position is now being added in Justin Steinkötter . The 25-year-old joins the Grünwalder Straße club from TSV Steinbach Haiger, for whom he scored an impressive 20 goals and provided eight assists in the Regionalliga Südwest last season.
Steinkötter's departure from the fourth-division club had been a given for several weeks. The attacker had rejected an offer to extend his contract , thus joining the Lions on a free transfer. He brings with him to Munich the experience of 156 Regionalliga appearances (52 goals) for TSV Steinbach Haiger, Fortuna Köln, and Borussia Mönchengladbach II, as well as 48 third-division appearances (five goals) for 1. FC Saarbrücken and Preußen Münster.
At 25, he is ready to make a new start in the 3rd division.

"Justin is a very interesting player whose style of play and mentality make him a perfect fit for us," 1860 managing director Dr. Christian Werner was quoted as saying in a club statement on Thursday. The attacker, who is a strong runner and has demonstrated his goal-scoring instinct on several occasions in the past. "At 25, he's ready to make a fresh start in the 3rd division. I'm delighted that he's chosen us despite interest from several clubs."
Steinkötter is the Lions' fourth new signing for the new season, following Volland, Niederlechner, and defender Kilian Jakob. He will wear the number 9 shirt.
"I'm happy to be at such a great, traditional club," says Steinkötter, who can play centrally in attack but can also be deployed on the wings. "The decision was easy for me. We had very good discussions, and I'm ready for a successful season with the Lions."
