Speculation about Carlo Ancelotti's future is more intense than ever following Real Madrid's cup final loss to FC Barcelona. Now a decision has apparently been made – bad news for Bayer Leverkusen.

According to media reports, coach Carlo Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid early and take over the Brazilian national football team for a year until the 2026 World Cup. According to information from the portal "The Athletic," citing anonymous sources, the Italian has already informed the players of his planned departure in the dressing room.

According to "The Athletic," British broadcaster Sky, and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Italian is expected to coach the Seleção for their international matches in June. If that were the case, he would no longer be able to coach Madrid at the Club World Cup in the USA from June 14 to July 13.

This evening, the Spanish sports paper "Marca" and Romano reported that a formal agreement has now been reached between the two sides. All that's missing is the signature. Further talks are expected in the coming hours and days to clarify the details of the split with Real. According to The Athletic, final negotiations with the Brazilian federation and possibly the signing of the contract are planned for next week.

Ancelotti has been coaching Real Madrid since the summer of 2021, winning the Champions League twice with the club. Starting in July 2013, he coached the Royals for two seasons, including one Champions League trophy.

Ancelotti himself said over the weekend that the decision would be made in the coming weeks. The sports newspaper "As" described a deadline as "a true all-or-nothing finale." He was referring to the next clash with Barça. The Catalans will host Real Madrid on May 11 in the Spanish league. Coach Hansi Flick's team is currently on course for the title, four points ahead of Real Madrid.
