After a successful opening match against Sweden, the German women's basketball team largely had no chance against Spain. Now they face Great Britain for the advancement.

Germany's women's basketball team suffered a decisive loss in their top match against fellow favorites Spain and now fears for their place in the European Championship finals. The team, led by WNBA pros Leonie Fiebich and Luisa Geiselsöder, lost to the title contender 60-79 (30-36) in Hamburg, suffering a bitter setback after a promising opening match against Sweden. Even fan Dirk Nowitzki was unlucky this time at the Inselpark Arena.

In the final group match against the still winless Great Britain on Sunday (6:00 p.m./Magentasport), Germany will need to improve its performance to reach the quarterfinals in Piraeus. However, as second in the group, they would then face a clash with favorite Belgium. Luisa Geiselsöder was the top scorer against Spain with 16 points.
