Thomas Müller's final chord at FC Bayern

With the defeat to PSG at the Club World Cup, Thomas Müller's time at FC Bayern has come to an end. This marks the end of an unprecedented career with the record champions. Where Müller will continue his career remains unclear.
Thomas Müller's career at FC Bayern should have ended after 758 games. That would have meant reaching the final of the Club World Cup. Thus, Müller's time with the German record champions ended after the quarterfinal defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. Thus, an unprecedented career in the red and white jersey comes to a temporary end.
Müller: "I loved it"Müller had already said his true goodbyes on matchday 33 in his final home game. After the match against Borussia Mönchengladbach, he received his farewell, spoke to the fans, and delivered one last major installment of the Müller Show. Although this term almost implies that someone was pretending. But Thomas Müller never did that during his time at FC Bayern.
"I loved being the modern gladiator," Müller said at the time, and said goodbye with the words: "I'm not sad, I'm looking forward to what's to come—even if it won't be half as nice. I love you all! Take care, Servus!"
Thomas Müller: A Bavarian veteranMüller's career began at TSV Pähl. At the age of eleven, he joined FC Bayern's youth academy. There, he progressed through all the teams and made his senior debut in 2009. Under Louis Van Gaal, he earned a regular starting place and the "Müller always plays" guarantee.
In his 14 years as a professional, Müller celebrated 13 league titles, won the DFB Cup six times, and the Champions League twice. He was also crowned Club World Champion twice and World Champion with the German national team in 2014. He celebrated his last championship title with a grin and a joke on the balcony of Munich's town hall .
Despite an undignified farewell: "Nothing sticks"Here, too, he didn't say a word about the somewhat abrupt end of his time at his beloved club. Müller would have liked to extend his contract, but FC Bayern decided against it. This happened after sporting director Max Eberl publicly stated that Müller could decide his own future.
"Nothing sticks," Müller said on the sidelines of the celebrations on BR television. Müller never wanted to dwell on negative things for long, instead focusing on having a good time and enjoying football.
Müller plays in the USA - move to the MLS?At the Club World Cup in the USA, he was rarely allowed to do so – as he was last season under coach Vincent Kompany. As part of the B team, he played the full 90 minutes in the matches against Auckland City FC and Benfica Lisbon. In the crucial matches against Boca Juniors and in the round of 16 against Flamengo, he played a total of nine minutes.
Yet he was able to use his time in the USA to audition for potential new employers. Numerous MLS clubs are interested in Müller. Los Angeles FC and its coach Steve Cherundolo have recently been the most aggressive in courting the 35-year-old's services: "Thomas fits perfectly with his personality, his experience, his class, but also his mentality," the former Bundesliga pro told Bild. "Anyone who thinks it's all about the weather and show in Los Angeles is seriously mistaken. We want to win titles. And Müller knows how to do that."
A permanent end to his career is therefore unlikely. He still enjoys football too much, Müller repeatedly emphasizes these days. And if not in Munich, then somewhere else.
