This revolutionary invention promises to alleviate knee problems and facilitate daily movement.

If a person has knee problems or pain , simple actions such as walking, climbing stairs, or getting up from a chair can be complicated and painful. To help resolve these types of situations, the company Dnsys, formed by experts who previously worked at companies such as Xiaomi , DJI and Segway , have created a lightweight exoskeleton that is placed on the legs and provides extra reinforcement when moving.

The company's goal is to make life easier for people with mobility problems or those who need extra help with their activities.

Dnsys Z1: Making life easier for people with mobility issues

Dubbed the Dnsys Z1 , this exoskeleton is powered by an AI engine developed after three years of research and 1,500 hours of studying human movement, as reported by the company itself. The system, known as the Neutral Motion Engine, is capable of detecting the user's natural movements and responds in just 0.01 seconds , providing immediate support and adapting to the user's gait.

Among its features, each leg has a motor capable of generating a total of 450 W of power , or 900 W of assistance . This allows it to increase leg strength by up to 50% and reduce the load on the knees by 200%. In other words, it's as if your body weighed about 20 kilos less .

As for its battery, it has a range of between 3 and 5 hours , depending on its use. However, one of its advantages is that it can recover energy when going downhill thanks to a regenerative system, allowing it to gain up to 15 km of extra range. The Dnsys Z1 exoskeleton comes in two versions:

  • Standard model : Made of aluminum alloy and carbon fiber. Weighs 680 grams per leg.
  • Pro Model : This is lighter, made of titanium and carbon fiber. It weighs 640 grams per leg.

This exoskeleton has not only been created to aid in mid-level rehabilitation, but is also useful for the elderly , overweight , those recovering from surgery , or those undertaking physical exertion, among others. It is also designed to withstand snow and rain.

Price and availability of the Dnsys Z1 exoskeleton

The device was launched on Kickstarter and met with great success, raising €1.35 million in just 10 days . Its initial price was €771, and its final cost will be around €1,280 ($1,499).
