Three days after Simón Falah-Assadi Martínez was hit by a foul ball at Alfredo Harp Helú Stadium, the Diablos Rojos announced in a statement that the minor is out of danger.

"Medical care was immediately provided at the scene of the incident and later at the stadium infirmary, with the minor's family being present at all times," the document states.

Last Wednesday, during the first game of the series between the Pingos and Pericos, Simón was hit in the head by a ball, which didn't have immediate consequences; however, that evening he developed a headache and nausea, and was taken to the hospital.

His mother, Ana Luisa, reported that the child underwent surgery for a brain hemorrhage and was taken to intensive care where he remains under observation.

On social media, the family has requested blood donations, and plans are also underway to create a fundraising page to cover the hospital bill. So far, Diablos has not commented on any potential financial support.

The statement details that the diamond's protective mesh is one of the widest in the country; however, the berm and upper seating sections are vulnerable, so the team encourages everyone to "keep their eyes on the ball" at all times.

“We reiterate that Alfredo Harp Helú Stadium has protective netting from side to side of the field, extending from the foul line to home plate. The safety of our fans is our priority, which is why we maintain and reinforce the protocols that distinguish our stadium as one of those that offers the best experience to visitors.”

The team confirmed that it is maintaining communication with Simón's family to follow up on the case.

“We offered assistance with property insurance so they could focus on Simón's care and follow-up.”

The third game of the series was suspended due to rain and rescheduled for today at 2 p.m.

Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player to score 100 goals in official competitions for four different clubs yesterday, although Al-Nassr lost to Al-Ahli on penalties (5-3) after the Saudi Arabian Super Cup final ended 2-2.

The goal came in the first half, when he took advantage of a penalty and scored his 100th goal with a corner shot that beat goalkeeper Édouard Osoque and celebrated with the Arab team, which he joined in December 2022, in a match held at the Hong Kong Stadium in the Asian country.

This adds a new career milestone to his total of 450 goals for Real Madrid, 145 for Manchester United, and 101 for Juventus. The Portuguese striker now surpasses only three players who have scored 100 times for three clubs: Isidro Lángara, who played in Spain from 1930 to 1948, and Brazilian stars Romario and Neymar.

Cristiano, 40, who has yet to win a major trophy in Saudi Arabia, is also the top international scorer with 138 goals for Portugal.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner put Al-Nassr ahead (41st minute), but Franck Kessié quickly equalized for Al-Ahli. With seven minutes remaining, Marcelo Brozovic restored Al-Nassr's lead, but Brazilian defender Ibáñez equalized at 2-2 to take the game to a penalty shootout.

Ronaldo converted another penalty, but his teammate Abdullah Al-Khaibari missed and Al-Ahli won the shootout 5-3 to lift the first trophy of the season in the Arab League.

Other results

Defending Spanish league champions Barcelona secured another 3-2 victory on Matchday 2 of the tournament in a close clash against Levante, the team promoted to the top flight.
