Woman killed in street in Saône-et-Loire, shooter wanted

Shortly before 5 a.m., a resident of this Charolais town of 3,700 inhabitants heard gunshots and raised the alarm, according to an initial source, which confirmed information from the Creusot Infos website.

Upon arrival, emergency services found a woman on the ground with a serious head injury and were unable to revive her, according to the source.

The victim was in the process of divorcing and had filed a complaint against her partner, but at this stage, the perpetrator has not been identified, the source said.

A major search operation has been set up to find the shooter, according to another source.

Reinforcements were deployed to cover an area encroaching on the departments of Saône-et-Loire, Rhône and Loire.
