Woman killed in the street in Saône-et-Loire: the suspect has been arrested

The victim was in the process of getting a divorce and had filed a complaint against her partner, according to a source within the gendarmerie, without specifying whether the suspect was her partner.

At around 4:45 a.m., residents of this Charolais commune of 3,700 inhabitants reported gunshots in the town center and raised the alarm, reported prosecutor Anne-Lise Furstoss, who confirmed information from the Creusot Infos website.

"Upon arrival, the police found the lifeless body of a woman in her fifties, visibly hit by gunfire," the magistrate explained.

The public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into "murder" , entrusted to the services of the Charolles research brigade and the Dijon research section.

The gendarmes immediately launched a major search operation to find the shooter. Around 9 a.m., a suspect was arrested on the terrace of a café in Pouilly-sous-Charlieu in the northern Loire region, gendarmerie sources told AFP.

He was not armed and the arrest took place calmly, according to one of them.
