Lyon's Caroline Garcia lost to world number 14 Karolina Muchova in the second round of the Cincinnati tournament.

After eliminating the British Sonay Kartal (48th) in the first round for her return to competition since Roland-Garros , Caroline Garcia of Lyon was eliminated in the second round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati. The former world number 4 lost to the Czech Karolina Muchova (14th), in two very close sets (7-6, 7-6).
