Pauline Ferrand-Prévot will not participate in the World Cycling Championships in Rwanda at the end of September

Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, 33, will not be adding a new rainbow world champion's jersey to her collection. At least, not this year. The French rider, who wore the yellow jersey in the last Tour de France , announced on Monday, August 11, during a meeting with several media outlets, including Le Monde , in 's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands, that she was withdrawing from the World Road Championships, which will take place in Kigali, Rwanda, from September 21 to 28.
"I have to be smart [in my choice of program], " she explained, specifying that she wants to line up for the road race of the European championships, which will take place from October 1 to 5 in Ardèche. One of the few titles still missing from her impressive list of achievements. "I'm preparing for that," insisted the Reims native.
The Visma-Lease a Bike rider will return to competition on August 30th with the Classic Lorient Agglomération, in Morbihan. She will then take part in the Tour de l'Ardèche – from September 9th to 14th – before the continental event.
Olympic cross-country mountain bike champion at the Paris 2024 Games, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot had already won the world road title in 2014.
