Félibrée in Sarlat: the great Occitan festival is in full swing

One of the epicentres of the great Occitan festival is Place Pasteur, where Lo Bornat dau Périgord selected artisans to demonstrate old-fashioned crafts. A 1914 locomobile made in England made a splash: this portable steam engine was used to power a sawmill in winter and combine harvesters and mills in summer.

Excellent trades were also in the spotlight, with the presence of several Meilleurs Ouvriers de France (MOF) (Best Craftsmen of France) based in the department. "Food, construction, and art trades are represented," says Philippe Lalande, MOF 1994 in butchery. "We showcase our trades live," he continues. Among these artisans is Alain Lagorsse, who came from Coly-Saint-Amand. MOF in copper boilermaking, the coppersmith showcases the art of working with copper using hammer and mallet.
