From Friday 4th to Sunday 6th July, the Côte des Basques is hosting the second edition of the Woodscôte festival, organized by BTZ Downhill

Right at the entrance to the Woodscôte festival, the second edition of which is in full swing on the Côte des Basques in Biarritz (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), a clothing customization workshop sets the tone.

Behind a large wooden table and their sewing machines, Thérésa and Christine work for the festival-goers: "We personalize their clothes to make them unique." At the local designer market, second-hand and crafts are the key words.

A little further on, an amateur pétanque tournament is taking place on the warm sand. Two young festival-goers in swimsuits are enjoying the sun. "It's like Woodstock. Everyone's talking, there's a real sense of conviviality," smiles one of them.

Under an umbrella, Max seeks shade. He came for the music because "seeing live bands is becoming rare. Here, they're local, independent artists, that changes everything!" A little further up, the stage gives way to jam sessions that get some festival-goers dancing.

Along the promenade, an imposing ramp catches the eye. Children and adults alike take turns freestyling despite the heat. To cool off, the ocean is available. So, the required attire consists of a simple swimsuit.

For surfers, the waves are slow to arrive. So, some get pulled along by jet skis before performing tricks to the cheers of the crowd. From the seaside shops, the occasional whiff of cannabis also seems to contribute to the Woodstock vibe...

For the most outstanding athletes, 4,000 euros in prize money are up for grabs for skateboarding and 2,000 euros for surfing.

Today's program This Sunday, July 6th, starting at noon, discover "Brushes Storming" and several art exhibitions. On the board sports front, at noon, there will be a free skate session and a "Kash For Tricks" surf show on the Côte des Basques. Awards ceremony: 7:30 p.m. for skaters, 9 p.m. for surfers. Today's jam session begins at 2 p.m. On stage: Werewolfcolors Orchestra from 5 p.m., followed by Taco Blaster, Darta La, Airu, and The Twin Stoners, all punctuated by cultural entertainment. Free admission from 1 euro.
