Urology at the Foggia Polyclinic will be featured at the SIU National Congress in Sorrento.

The University Urology Department of the Policlinico di Foggia, directed by Giuseppe Carrieri, president of the Italian Society of Urology and dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Foggia, is a key player at the National Congress of the Italian Society of Urology, a leading event in the urology field, taking place from November 6 to 9 in Sorrento.
Two highly specialized surgical procedures were performed in the operating rooms of the Urology Department of the Policlinico Hospital and broadcast live nationwide at the SIU Congress, allowing urologists from across Italy to witness the innovative procedures in real time.
Gian Maria Busetto and Nicola d'Altilia, from the Urology Department of the Polyclinic, performed two cutting-edge minimally invasive surgeries: a holmium laser enucleation (HoLEP) for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia and a robotic colposacropexy (CSP) for the correction of female pelvic organ prolapse. These procedures represent the pinnacle of modern urological surgery, allowing for maximum precision and safety, minimizing surgical trauma and recovery time.
“Participation in the SIU congress with live broadcast interventions is a source of pride and testifies to the competence, innovation and clinical quality that characterize the Urology School of the Policlinico of Foggia” – highlights the extraordinary commissioner of the Policlinico Giuseppe Pasqualone
" We are particularly proud that the University of Foggia is participating in such a high-level scientific event, which brings together nationally and internationally renowned experts in the field of urology," stated the Rector of the University of Foggia, Lorenzo Lo Muzio . "Events like this represent not only an opportunity for scientific discussion, but also a moment of growth for our academic community. I would like to thank Carrieri, his colleagues from the Department of Medicine and Surgery, and the professionals involved for their commitment in consolidating the University of Foggia's role as a center of excellence in research and specialized medical training."
"The use of the most advanced laser and robotic technologies confirms the Urology Department of Foggia as a highly complex national referral center," concludes Giuseppe Carrieri.
