Fears for Platini, robbed while at home: trophies and medals stolen

A burglary has taken place at the home of former footballer and UEFA president Michel Platini in Cassis , near the Bouches-du-Rhône region, where several trophies were stolen . Platini was home at the time of the theft and was awakened at dawn by noises coming from the garden . He is physically fine and managed to scare off the thieves, who, however, had already stolen around twenty sports trophies .

The news was first reported by RTL radio , and then confirmed by sources close to the investigation cited by the agency. According to the sources, the former Juventus number 10 awoke with a start after hearing noises coming from his garden around 5:30 this morning. The seventy-year-old former UEFA president then found himself confronted by a hooded man dressed in black , who immediately fled with the stolen goods, which mainly consisted of trophies, cups, and medals .

Blatter and Platini acquitted on appeal in Switzerland: they faced 20 months in prison for fraud.
The investigation was entrusted to the Brigade de recherches d'Aubagne. A three-time Ballon d'Or winner (1983, 1984, 1985), "Le Roi" also went down in history for having created a champions' duo with Juventus in 1985.
