Malvina, the nurse boxer, is chasing the IBO world belt at PalaDozza.

Bologna, August 6, 2025 – Great boxing under the Two Towers. It's now official: on Friday, November 7, the legendary PalaDozza in Bologna will host a world title fight for the first time. Pamela Malvina Noutcho Sawa , an athlete from the ASD Bolognina Boxe, will take to the ring to face Karen Elisabeth Carabajal , one of the most experienced and respected Argentine boxers on the international scene, for the currently vacant IBO lightweight world title.
Madison Square Garden in Bologna will once again host a major international boxing event, following last year's EBU Silver title which saw Pamela Malvina defeat Jordan Barker Porter.
"We are proud to announce a world title in our city," says Luca Scanabucci , president of ASD Bolognina Boxe . "Bringing an event like this to the historic Paladozza is a source of pride for us; we hope to make the arena on Via Azzarita the home of Bolognese boxing once again, as it was in the 1960s and 1970s. We must publicly thank Promo Boxe Italia, co-organizer of the event, the Municipality of Bologna, Bologna Welcome, and the Emilia-Romagna Region for their dedication and crucial contribution."
The event will represent two firsts in the city's sporting history: for the first time, Bologna will host a boxing world championship, and it will also be the first time a Bolognese boxer will compete in a world title match.
Carabajal, 35, originally from Buenos Aires , is a charismatic figure both inside and outside the ring. A psychologist by training, with experience in child education, she began boxing at 16 to leave behind a difficult childhood. She found a turning point at the Almagro Boxing Club , alongside coach Fernando Albelo, who gave her the nickname "La Burbuja" (the bubble) due to her large, bright eyes. Throughout her career, she has racked up 21 victories (four by knockout) and has been defeated only by two boxing legends: Katie Taylor and Rhiannon Dixon.
On the other side of the ring will be Pamela Malvina Noutcho Sawa , who grew up in the popular Bolognina Boxe gym and has won, one after the other, the Italian title, the EBU Silver, and the EBU European title in recent years. The world title challenge represents the culmination of a journey built on sacrifice, talent, and determination.
Confirming her fitness, Pamela was recently called up by the Italian Boxing Federation for a training camp with the national team, which will take place at the National Federal Center of Santa Maria degli Angeli in Assisi.
