Twenty-two medals for Chimera Nuoto at the regional summer championships

Arezzo, July 22, 2025 – Chimera Nuoto achieved a rich trophy case with twenty-two medals at the finals of the Regional Youth Summer Championships in Livorno.
The swimmers from Arezzo managed to stand out in comparison with their peers from all over Tuscany and celebrated three golds, eight silvers and eleven bronzes, with excellent placings in the various specialties which confirmed the Palazzetto del Nuoto club at the top of the general rankings in the various categories.
Chimera Nuoto, in fact, concluded the championships with a fifth place in the Boys' category out of twenty-eight clubs, a seventh place in the Junior category out of twenty-six clubs, and an eighth place in the Cadets category out of twenty-seven clubs, maintaining high enthusiasm and motivation ahead of the Italian championships starting on Friday, August 1st.
Among the protagonists was Margherita Mattioli, born in 2011, who, among the Girls, became Tuscan champion in the 100 and 200 butterfly, then the satisfaction of climbing onto the top step of the podium was also experienced by Sofia Donati, born in 2007, with first place in the 100 backstroke and third places in the 50 and 200 backstroke among the Cadets.
A poker of medals was won by Gaia Burzi, born in 2007, with silver in the 50m freestyle and bronze in the 50m butterfly, 200m medley and 400m medley among the Cadets, while in the Junior men's category, Sergio Gramma and Gabriele Mealli, born in 2007, stood out: the former won silver in the 50m and 100m backstroke and bronze in the 200m backstroke, and the latter won a double silver in the 200m and 800m freestyle.
The medal list was completed by Fabio Ferrari in 2006 (second in the 200m butterfly among the Cadets), by Martina Minervino in 2007 (second in the 200m butterfly among the Cadets), by Sofia Napoli in 2010 (second in the 200m freestyle among the Juniors), by Tommaso Senesi in 2009 (second in the 100m backstroke among the Boys) and by Alessio Menchetti in 2009 (third in the 200m butterfly among the Cadets).
The high level of preparation of the Chimera Nuoto team was also confirmed by the excellent placings in the girls' relays, with second place in the 4x100 freestyle (with Giusi Fiorucci, Greta Viola Maraghini, Margherita Mattioli, and Djulietta Rosca), third place in the 4x200 freestyle (with Giusi Fiorucci, Greta Viola Maraghini, Margherita Mattioli, and Adele Napoli), and third place in the 4x100 medley (with Giusi Fiorucci, Margherita Mattioli, Morgana Milagros Domenichelli, and Isabella Sacchetti). This testifies to the quality of the work carried out by the technical staff, including Marco Licastro, Adriano Pacifici, and Mattia Esposito, coordinated by sports director Marco Magara, with the collaboration of Dr. Emanuele Cherubini for injury prevention, and the support of athletic trainers Matteo Cetarini and Luca Ricciarini.
Finally, the Arezzo-based club also participated with good times in the Regional Youth Summer Championships with Beatrice Alvisi, Giovanni Cantalamessa, Aurora Frulli, Mattia Gambini, Giulia Gianquitto, Alberto Giorni, Natalia Mazzeschi, Lorenzo Menchetti, Marco Morlando, Sveva Pancini, Leonardo Pasquini, Leonardo Raffi, Riccardo Rosi, Leonardo Rossi and Asia Senesi.
