The keys to the electric future in Aragon: the data centers for which there is no power

The latest installment of the HERALDO DE ARAGÓN podcast features Jorge Alonso, editor of this newspaper, to explain the electricity planning recently published by the Ministry of Ecological Transition , which has generated controversy in Aragon.

Journalist Silvia Romeo is moderating this episode and interviewing Alonso, but before diving into the conversation, she provides some context about the future of electricity in Aragon: "The regional government believes that the Spanish government's electricity planning does not meet the potential demand of the community's business community, with data centers that, if they do, will not be able to be installed. For its part, the Ministry argues that the needs of firm and mature projects have been prioritized."

Jorge Alonso explains what this new measure would mean for the data centers that will be installed in our community: "Of the new positions in the plan, which are seven, none of them are for more data centers, because in the 29-26 planning, data centers that were already ordered were already taken into account. There will not be any new ones and that means that about eight centers will not have power, which is roughly a third of what would be in operation . There are around twenty, so eight are left out."

This situation has provoked dissatisfaction in the Aragon government, which, according to the HERALDO journalist, "the only thing it can do, which it has already announced, is to file objections." "Let's hope for the best, because the future of Aragon, as well as that of other territories, will depend on this. Energy is an essential raw material," Alonso adds.

Throughout the podcasts, HERALDO will continue to expand the range of topics covered in its episodes, covering important topics such as sports, culture, and politics in our Autonomous Community.
