The Nave Cultural is the venue where this important international meeting of the Argentine mining sector is taking place, which will be on until Friday the 31st. At the opening there were important announcements from the governor, in addition to transcendental considerations from the Secretary of Mining of the Nation.
This Wednesday, Argentina Mining Cuyo 2025 kicked off in the city of Mendoza , with the participation of Mayor Ulpiano Suarez ; the Governor of the province, Alfredo Cornejo ; the National Secretary of Mining, Luis Lucero ; the Minister of Energy and Environment, Jimena Latorre ; and the Director of Argentina Mining, Javier Rojas . Also present were Vice Governor Hebe Casado , mayors from Greater Mendoza, legislators and members of the provincial cabinet, representatives from the business sector, and members of the media.
The premium international meeting of the Argentine mining sector will take place over three days at the Nave Cultural -until October 31, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.- and will bring together activities, debates, reflections and a prominent trade fair exhibition that will define the course of mining in Argentina and the region.
With 29 years of experience, Argentina Mining is once again consolidating itself as a strategic space to strengthen the sector, boosting its development in the face of global challenges and promoting innovation, sustainability and social responsibility.
In this regard, Ulpiano Suarez said: “It is a great honor to welcome you to this great city of Mendoza for Argentina Mining 2025 , an event that returns to our province after 17 years and is consolidating its position as one of the most important forums in the region . I celebrate the commitment and vision of businesspeople, investors, and entrepreneurs , the true drivers of productive development. Mendoza and its metropolitan area are a strategic partner for modern and sustainable mining , thanks to our human capital , our ecosystem of professional services , and the quality of life we offer. We are here to talk about the future, growth, and innovation , building together an agenda that empowers the province and the country .”
In this regard, the Mayor of Mendoza City stated that “Argentina is at a pivotal moment : we possess strategic resources such as lithium and copper that can position us as leaders in the global energy transition . Mendoza is working to attract top-tier investments and develop modern, sustainable mining with the highest environmental standards . Our goal is for this growth to generate quality employment , boost a local value chain, and ensure that the benefits are distributed fairly, promoting well-being and development for all residents of Mendoza. Mining development in Mendoza must be built on technical information, transparency, and participation, not on fear or misinformation. With sound decisions and the commitment of a new generation of leaders, we are working toward a prosperous future that attracts investment, builds trust, and improves the quality of life for all residents of Mendoza.”
Meanwhile, Alfredo Cornejo stated: “The Argentine economy cannot continue to depend solely on agriculture. The agricultural sector is not enough to sustain development. Today, another engine has been ignited: unconventional oil and gas. The third engine that we must definitively ignite is mining and critical minerals.”
The Governor then highlighted Mendoza's strong institutions as a guarantee for long-term investments: "Mendoza offers clear rules, a single ballot system, a clean record system, and a revenue-sharing law with stable municipalities," and emphasized that in this context, "a very high bar has been set for metal mining." At the same time, Cornejo announced four key laws to advance sustainable mining: he confirmed the submission to the Legislature of the Mining Royalties Law , the Environmental Impact Statements for PSJ Cobre Mendocino and Malargüe Western Mining District II ; and the creation of an Environmental Compensation Fund .
For his part, the National Secretary of Mining , Luis Lucero, emphasized: “The first project to significantly resume copper production in Argentina will be located in Mendoza. What this implies in terms of a shift in focus, vision, and consensus- building within a society as civil and engaged as Mendoza's speaks volumes about the kind of consensus you can achieve and the kind of leadership you seek and attain. So, I humbly express my absolute admiration and congratulations to the government for what it has accomplished in this short time, and I sincerely hope you continue on this path. I reiterate the commitment of the Nation and the Secretariat to ensure you continue progressing at this pace.”
This year's Argentina Mining Cuyo event also features the Mining Education Expo , an initiative aimed at students from across Mendoza. There, they can explore academic programs related to the industry , experience the various stages of the mining process through virtual simulators, and gain a comprehensive understanding of the mining ecosystem.
Argentina Mining Cuyo 2025 is an international convention running until Friday, October 31st, bringing together leading figures from the provincial, national, and international mining sector. The event features conferences, technical presentations, and networking opportunities for companies, specialists, chambers of commerce, universities, and investors.
