Construction of the most important logistics hub in the western part of the country will soon begin. Details of the project.
The logistics hub , which will begin construction in Luján de Cuyo, has already passed the bidding stage and will soon begin earthmoving. The winning joint venture is awaiting the signing of the contract and the completion of the paperwork to put the machinery to work in what will become one of the most important service and customs areas in the country.
This proposal, which will require an extraordinary private investment, is the result of a process that includes coordination between the Municipality of Luján and the Government of Mendoza .

From the province, because in 2023 the Mendoza Legislature will pass Law 9094, which lays the groundwork for the creation of a logistics hub in Luján. This will contemplate the relocation of the Dry Port operations currently carried out in Godoy Cruz, in the heart of the urban area, which is severely limited for the operation of large numbers of trucks and their cargo.
This year, the Mendoza government signed an agreement with the Luján Municipality to coordinate actions and create a comprehensive logistics platform . The municipality is finally giving impetus to the development of the land acquired during Mayor Carral's administration (1995) as part of a broad investment attraction program it is carrying out, with logistics as one of the activities included.

With a total investment of over $70 billion—made entirely by the private sector—the project has a five-year construction period. Significant changes are expected to be seen in the first two years at this corner of Route 7 and the access to the refinery from this artery. The Temporary Business Union (UTE) that will lead this project is comprised of four companies with experience in the logistics and construction sectors: Laugero Construcciones, Andesmar Cargas, KRC Global (Grupo Kristich), and Servicios y Mandatos (Grupo Álvarez).
"It was a long process," explained Santiago Laugero, one of the members of the UTE. The tender includes the execution of works on the 57-hectare property. He added that after completing the bidding process, they are now in the formalization stage of administrative procedures. "We estimate that the contract will be signed very soon, and we will begin the earthworks to begin the construction."

The developer added that the location is strategic for logistics, and we know it will be key to easing truck traffic at various points in Greater Mendoza. One of these is the entire Rodríguez Peña lane area, as well as the current location of the provincial dry port, located in an urban area of Godoy Cruz. Furthermore, once the Palmira bypass, which connects Luján with the east without going through the city, is inaugurated, traffic at metropolitan access points will be much smoother, as it will not have to deal with cargo entering customs in the middle of the industrial zone. Among the planned projects at the new hub are 10 hectares for truckers to wait or park their cargo on days when access to Chile is blocked due to weather contingencies.

Santiago Laugero explained that the project is divided into two major phases. The first phase has a 24-month construction period, which will include the Dry Port and all services related to logistics and customs. "The goal is for it to be a place with amenities for users and also a relatively quiet environment," the entrepreneur explained. It should be noted that in this first phase, the street leading into the distillery will also be widened, and roads will be built within the perimeter of the complex.

This initial phase, during which a large part of the new space will be configured, should be inaugurated in the second half of 2027. The joint venture that will carry out the project is confident that the truck stop will be operational by the winter of that year. Among other infrastructure works, the necessary work must be completed to provide gas and electricity to the space. This area will also include a roundabout for traffic management and, later, a service station. For this purpose, discussions have already begun with a YPF operator who will be responsible for this specific investment.
It's important to note that the logistics hub that will begin construction is linked to the Luján industrial park. Furthermore, the goal is to build a multimodal station there, where, in addition to trucks, the freight train line already operating inside the refinery will be used. In this context, the second part of the project, which includes a general cargo storage area, is particularly relevant. This is a crucial area that is highly scalable and will go hand in hand with the growth of what is already known as "Mendoza Logistics."
