Former governor of Nuevo León arrested on US border: this is what we know

Rodrigo Medina de la Cruz , former governor of Nuevo León , was temporarily detained by customs authorities at the border between Matamoros, Tamaulipas , and Texas , United States, according to unofficial reports.
The incident occurred on Saturday, July 26, when the former president was attempting to cross into the neighboring country via the Lucio Blanco–Los Indios International Bridge , accompanied by his family. Sources close to the situation indicated that the detention lasted less than 30 minutes and was part of a routine check , with no charges or legal indications motivating the measure.
According to local media, after verifying that his documentation was in order, U.S. authorities allowed Medina and his family to enter the state of Texas.
Rodrigo Medina de la Cruz was governor of Nuevo León from 2009 to 2015 , under the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) . During and after his administration, he faced several investigations for alleged embezzlement and misuse of public power.
In recent years, Medina has maintained a lower profile in public life, although his name continues to generate media attention when linked to political or judicial issues.
So far, there are no indications of any open legal action related to the detention that occurred this Saturday. Everything points to this being a routine procedure that can occur with any citizen, especially when there is extra verification by customs agents at high-traffic border crossings. In recent months, surveillance at border crossings has intensified , especially in Tamaulipas , due to the increase in migratory flow, smuggling, and surveillance of public profiles.
