A curious case in the Second Division: he was fired twice, the club wanted to lower his salary, they argued, and he terminated his contract.

He arrived at Defensores de Belgrano as one of the main names in the transfer market at the beginning of the year in the Primera Nacional, but Facundo Pons' stay didn't end pleasantly. Quite the opposite. The 29-year-old forward terminated his contract with the club by mutual consent this Tuesday .
What happened? The center forward's performance wasn't what he expected. He missed several matches due to physical problems, was cautioned, and saw red twice (a 1-0 win against Mitre de Santiago del Estero in the Bajo district and a 2-0 loss to Talleres in Escalada).
That match against Albirrojo was the former Arsenal player's last at the Dragón, as he received a four-match ban . In total, he missed five matches due to suspension.
As a result of these expulsions (both for unconventional situations in a football match), the Board of Directors decided to reduce his salary as punishment for "conduct inappropriate for a professional player." The measure didn't sit well with Pons, and it all led to an argument between the two sides.
But the situation was far from over: with the aim of further escalating the conflict and causing greater damage to both parties, the decision was made to terminate the player's contract early, which was due to expire on December 31 of this year. The club subsequently announced the measure on social media.

"Club Atlético Defensores de Belgrano informs its members and fans that, due to repeated expulsions resulting from inappropriate behavior for a professional player, a percentage discount was applied to player Facundo Pons' salary, which led to an argument with him. Subsequently, and in order to avoid inconveniences between the parties, it was resolved, by mutual agreement, to terminate the contract," reads the post on the official account of the Rivadavia and Libertador club.

Throughout his time with the team now managed by Fabián Nardozza , Facundo Pons played 14 matches, with the particularity that he was a starter in all of them, and scored seven goals : San Telmo, Estudiantes (2), Defensores Unidos de Zárate, Colón, Chacarita and Nueva Chicago, his victims. In addition, he suffered the two expulsions mentioned vs. Mitre de Santiago del Estero and Talleres de Escalada.
