Michel suffered a deep vein thrombosis in his left leg

Girona manager Míchel Sánchez revealed this Monday in the press conference prior to the visit to Valladolid that his hospitalization was due to "a deep vein thrombosis in his left leg" and has considered the matter "closed."

"Outpatient tests will be carried out in the coming days to determine the cause, but I'm fine and now it's time to slowly return to normal, with the same peace of mind as always, and do what I love most, which is coaching Girona," Míchel said.

The Red and White team's manager expressed his "extreme gratitude and pride" for the treatment of all the doctors and for all the messages received in recent days, and acknowledged that he feels "very fortunate to have the love and concern of everyone."

The Girona coach explained that he had a "very bad time" watching Saturday's 1-0 defeat against Villarreal from the hospital, because the signal arrived "30 seconds late" and because of "the helplessness of not being able to help."

"But I had a lot of confidence in everyone because I think we have a Champions League-worthy staff, and I was convinced the team was in good hands," the Madrid-born coach added.

Míchel was hospitalized on Thursday as a precaution and was released on Sunday. He returned to work on Monday and will coach Girona in the match against Valladolid at the José Zorrilla Stadium on Tuesday, a crucial match in the fight for survival.
