Director Van Es will leave FC Utrecht at the end of this year

General manager Thijs van Es will leave FC Utrecht at the end of this year. After more than seven years, Van Es believes it is time "to pass the baton and set a new course myself", he reports on the club's website.
"I want to use my expertise in strategy and organizational development in a different context, and also create more space for my family. In the coming months, I will continue to work on a careful transfer and supporting the club in this transition," says Van Es.
Club owner Frans van Seumeren says that Van Es' departure affects him. "We have built up the club together. Thijs has brought calm and direction in an intensive environment. I am grateful for what we have achieved together."
FC Utrecht finished fourth in the Eredivisie last season and qualified for the preliminary rounds of the Europa League. The club says it will "take the time to find a suitable replacement for Van Es".
