A nice touch on the 135th anniversary of TPPiR

At the last meeting of the Przemyśl County Council (22 May this year), it was unanimously decided to award the honorary badge "Meritorious for Przemyśl County" to four members of the Society of Friends of Przemyśl and the Region. The occasion for awarding the honorable distinction is to be the 135th anniversary of the association's activity.

The Society of Friends of Przemyśl and the Region does not need to be introduced to most of the residents of Przemyśl. The organization became famous in the city and municipalities of Przemyśl County for its activities to save historic tombstones and monuments in municipal cemeteries. It is on their initiative that public fundraising is organized for the renovation of the most damaged ones, requiring urgent conservation work. The members of the organization not only conduct collections, but also take care of the necessary documentation and agree it with the conservator, as well as select the contractors of the works and then supervise them. Bogumiła Pieczyńska, who is the head of TPPiR, joined the group of "Meritorious for Przemyśl County" in 2023. Now it is time to appreciate the activities of the next members of the organization. The councillors, motivated by the motion submitted by the society's president and the positive recommendation of the badge chapter, decided unanimously at the last district session to also give special recognition to the activities undertaken in the area of ​​social activity by: Małgorzata Gazdowicz, Maria Gawlik, Zbigniew Gnus and Piotr Michalski. All of them are active and long-term tireless members of TPPiR in Przemyśl.

The resolution on this matter was adopted almost immediately due to the fact that this year TPPiR is celebrating its 135th anniversary and the best opportunity to present the distinction will be the celebrations in June.

It is worth recalling here that the honorary badge "Meritorious for Przemyśl County" is awarded to people who contribute in a special way to the development of the Przemyśl region, acting in the local government, social, educational, cultural or economic fields. This special distinction, established in 2010, was awarded for the first time in August 2011. Since then, many people have been honored with the aforementioned title.
