A 27-year-old Polish woman, while climbing in the Kremnica Mountains in Slovakia, fell from a rock and hung helplessly on a rope for over half an hour. She began to suffer from severe trauma. In a dramatic operation, rescuers had to pull her down from the wall and transport her to the hospital.
The incident occurred on Sunday, August 24th. The Polish woman fell on a difficult, overhanging section of the via ferrata and was unable to rejoin the route. Her companion alerted the Slovak Mountain Rescue Service. Rescuers used rope techniques to pull the hiker down the wall.
