On Monday, May 28 this year, MP Marek Rząsa appeared on Chodkiewicza Street, while councillor Liliana Kalinowska was on the phone, responding to the outraged residents of the popular "Krzemieniec" who did not understand why a tree over 100 years old was being cut down. An ash tree. Beautiful, spreading, at first glance - a picture of health. The anger of flora lovers was therefore not surprising.

– A few days earlier, a neighbor who has two ash trees on her plot had an argument with another resident who demanded that she cut them down because they would fall on his plot. I learned from her that I should also pay attention to the large ash tree because she had heard that it was time for it too. That they wanted to cut it down. On Monday, May 26, I was woken up by saws. I went out in my dressing gown and couldn't believe it.

– says one of the residents of Chodkiewicza Street.

– I asked the people who were there with the boom what they were doing? When I started making a fuss, they called someone to come here from the city office. A lady from the municipal services department came and said that she had all the necessary documents for the tree to disappear. That they had a decision and that everything was in accordance with the law. However, there was no dendrologist's opinion there, nor information about the lack of bird nesting on the tree. They cut it down, cut it into pieces and that was it.
