A very dangerous situation occurred on Sunday afternoon at a recreation center in Skorzęcin (Greater Poland Voivodeship), as described by moje-gniezno.pl. A man relaxing by the water stepped onto the pier to perform a headfirst dive.
He jumped from a height of approximately two meters into the water, which was only about 10 centimeters deep at that point. He suffered serious injuries. Lifeguards from the Volunteer Water Rescue Service were on duty at the scene and immediately began providing first aid.
Drama at the lake. A daring jump almost ended in tragedy.The injured man was placed on a spine board, a neck collar was applied and he was taken to an ambulance.
However, the man's condition was so serious that an air ambulance helicopter had to be called. The helicopter transported the jumper to the hospital.
A video of the medics' operation was posted on social media by NK Media. Lifeguard coordinator Artur Baranowski, among others, commented: "While on duty at the swimming area, we noticed a man who had jumped headfirst from the pier into about 10 centimeters of water, running. The pier is about 2 meters high. We acted in accordance with swimming area procedures and the KPP (qualified first aid) procedures, securing the man on a spine board and applying a collar. We also transported him to the ambulance from the medical facility," he recounted in detail.
