How to improve public transport on the right bank?
Public transport in the right-bank part of Szczecin is not perfect. The residents of Dąbie, Płonia and Kijewo know this best. The so-called fast tram was created in a reduced version - its route was supposed to be much longer. A few years ago, the city also eliminated bus line H, which connected Dąbie with the center of Szczecin. Buses of line C, which run on a similar route, run every few dozen minutes.
Krzysztof Romianowski, head of the Law and Justice councillors' club, reveals that talks are underway behind the scenes about extending the "fast tram" line.
- There are such talks, but we hear from President Krzystek and the current team governing the city that there is no money to extend the route. So it is unlikely to happen during this term. Ultimately, the tram could even reach Płonia, which is currently almost cut off from the city in terms of transport. The so-called fast tram was created in a very limited version. The "Turkusowa" loop is definitely not enough.
The PiS politician also notices the problem of communication exclusion of the residents of Dąbie.
– At the moment, line “C” runs to Dąbie. Buses on this line run very rarely – even every 40 minutes. Of course, we also have regular lines connecting Dąbie with Basen Górniczy. But the frequency of the runs is also not high. In addition, you have to change buses. Before the pandemic, line H was still running. Then the Civic Platform and President Krzystek cut costs and the vehicles on this line stopped running. Restoring line H would largely solve the problem.
Councillor Romianowski notes that the communication cut-off of Dąbie is also difficult to understand because there is a large railway station in the district. It would therefore be natural to connect this part of the city with the centre by well-functioning city lines. ©℗
