Pedestrians and cyclists are already using the footbridge over Struga Street

A new pedestrian and bicycle bridge over Struga Street in Szczecin has been opened to traffic. Although it was not officially opened, the safety barriers were removed and residents began to use it freely.
The footbridge connects both sides of one of the city's busiest streets, allowing pedestrians and cyclists to safely and comfortably travel above the road. The crossing was built in a place where there was no grade-separated crossing so far, and residents had to use crossings located several hundred meters away or cross the busy street in a risky way.
The structure is equipped with wide ramps, adapted for both cyclists and people with limited mobility. The footbridge also has modern lighting, which improves comfort and safety after dark. The entire structure is made of modern materials.
There was no shortage of positive opinions among the first users:
- I cycled through without any problems. The climbs are gentle, nothing gets in the way, and I'm on the other side in just a moment - reports Mr. Witold, who cycles through this part of the city every day.
– I came to walk and see what it looks like. I live nearby and now I won't have to make a detour to get to the shops on the other side of Struga – says Mr. Marek, a resident of a nearby housing estate.
The new footbridge is to relieve traffic in the area and improve the safety of unprotected road users. Finishing works in its vicinity are planned to be completed in the near future. Information on the possible official opening or completion of the entire investment is to appear at a later date.
