The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) is warning of heavy rain and gusty winds. Cold temperatures are expected across the country.
The start of the new week brings a slightly autumnal feel. Although there will be some localized clearings, cooler air and stronger winds will accompany us throughout the day. We're checking out what weather to expect in various regions of Poland, as well as what conditions will prevail at night and in individual cities.
Weather forecast for Monday, August 25. Rain and thunderstorms mainly in the north and east.Most regions in Poland will experience full cloud cover, with the sky potentially completely obscured at times. In the northeastern part of the country, there will be scattered but occasionally heavy rainfall, with rainfall of up to 20 liters per square meter. Thunderstorms will mainly affect the Warmian-Masurian and Podlaskie Voivodeships. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has issued heavy rainfall alerts for the following counties:
- Bartoszycki,
- Kętrzyn,
- Węgorzewski,
- Giżycko,
- Gołdap,
- Olecko.
In the rest of Poland, conditions will be calmer. The weather will be more favorable, with scattered and moderate clouds, and the risk of precipitation will be minimal. Nevertheless, the chill will be felt, especially with wind gusts reaching up to 80 km/h during storms.
The temperature will drop, but the cold will be felt across the countryThermometers will show temperatures today ranging from 15°C in the northeast to 21°C in southern Poland. Temperatures of 18-19°C are expected in the center of the country. The wind chill could lower the temperature by several degrees, reaching 10-15°C.
The wind will blow from the west and northwest. It will be moderate, with occasional gusts of up to 50 km/h. Gusts of up to 60–80 km/h are possible along the coast and during storms. High in the Sudetes and Carpathians, winds will reach up to 80 km/h today.
Cool night, foggy in places and with precipitationMonday night will bring clear skies in the south, but clouds will increase in the north and east. Localized rain and thunderstorms are possible there. Up to 15 mm of rain is expected in Eastern Pomerania, and up to 10 mm in the northeast.
Minimum temperatures will range from 7°C in the north to 11°C in the west. The coldest temperatures will be in the foothills of the Carpathians, reaching as low as 3°C. Local fog may form at ground level, limiting visibility to 300 meters. Winds will weaken, although gusts of up to 55 km/h may still reach the mountains.
