Why are we so keen to talk about the weather?

Weather is one of the most frequently discussed topics in everyday conversations. Whether we're waiting for the bus, meeting a neighbor at the store, or talking on the phone, a few words about rain, sunshine, or the impending cold appear almost automatically. Why is this?
Sociologists note that the secret to the popularity of such conversations lies in the neutrality of the topic. It doesn't spark arguments, but breaks the silence and allows for connection with another person.
Interestingly, in some countries, the weather has even become a cultural element. In the UK, it's considered an integral part of everyday polite conversation. Meanwhile, in regions with a more changeable climate – such as Poland – the topic is simply ever-present – regardless of the season, there's always something to complain about, or – sometimes – to be happy about!
