Bruce Springsteen Criticizes Donald Trump: 'Let Freedom Ring'

Yesterday, the legendary musician inaugurated the European leg of his global tour "The Land of Hope and Dreams Tour". During the concert in Manchester, Bruce Springsteen attacked the US president, not mincing words. The famous rocker appealed to the audience to loudly oppose politicians who are attacking the rights of citizens and their fundamental values. "Tonight, we ask all who believe in democracy and America to stand up with us, resist authoritarianism and let freedom ring," the star said from the stage.

On May 14, Bruce Springsteen visited Manchester , where he and the E Street Band kicked off the European leg of their joint global tour, "The Land of Hope and Dreams Tour." The New Jersey-born pop star delivered a harsh slam against the incumbent president of the United States .

"My home, the America I love, the America I've been writing about for five decades and which has been a symbol of hope and freedom for 250 years, is now ruled by a corrupt, incompetent and treacherous administration . Strange and truly dangerous things are happening here," said the 75-year-old musician, who has been known in the past as a staunch opponent of Donald Trump.

Springsteen emphasized that Trump and his entourage have consistently destroyed what society has managed to work on over the decades.

- People are persecuted for expressing their dissent and exercising their freedom of speech. The richest are throwing the poorest into the hands of disease and death. In my country, people take sadistic pleasure in the pain they inflict on their workers. The government is abandoning our allies and siding with dictators against those who are fighting for their freedom. It is depriving universities of funds that refuse to bow to its ideological demands. It is getting rid of residents and deporting them to foreign centers and prisons without due process. All this is happening before our eyes - the artist pontificated from the stage.

Springsteen appealed to listeners to loudly oppose politicians who attack the rights of citizens and their fundamental values.

- Tonight we ask all who believe in democracy and America to stand up with us, resist authoritarianism and let freedom ring. Our representatives failed to protect the American people from the abuses of an incompetent president and a dishonest government. When checks on power fail, the last resort is the people - me and you. Only our unity and solidarity can save democracy, protecting it from authoritarianism - the musician noted.
