Warsaw to get new concert hall. Largest such facility in Poland

On May 13, Sinfonia Varsovia announced a tender for the general contractor of its own headquarters, which is planned to become the largest concert hall in our country.

The Sinfonia Varsovia symphony orchestra, which has existed since 1984, will finally have its own home. Our country will gain the largest concert hall. When? According to plans, by 2030.

In 2010, as a result of an international competition, the jury selected the design by Atelier Thomas Pucher from Graz . The studio cooperated with acousticians from Müller-BBM from Berlin and Eckhard Kahle Acoustics from Brussels .

As we read on the orchestra's website, the shape of the hall is the result of combining two different typologies of concert halls: shoe box and vineyard . Concentric, wavy rings of the audience will surround the stage located on level -1.

Interestingly, the concert hall will be fully visible from the spacious foyer surrounding it thanks to the high glass walls. These will be open to all visitors.

- The aim of the project is to create a new musical centre for the city, centred around an orchestra of international importance, Sinfonia Varsovia . It is intended to be a place not only for presenting art, but also for spending free time – we read in a press release from Sinfonia Varsovia .

In addition to the main hall, there will also be a chamber hall for about 400 people, rehearsal rooms , storage rooms , artistic and technical facilities. The design of the headquarters, which will be located at Grochowska Street 272, also includes educational spaces , a café , a restaurant , a garden and a park.

It is also planned to build a promenade suspended 21 meters above the ground, from which it will be possible to admire the panorama of the area.

The tender for the general contractor who will be responsible for the construction of the hall has just started.

If everything goes according to plan, next year the famous orchestra’s audience will be able to attend events held in its chamber halls .

The opening of the new Sinfonia Varsovia headquarters is planned for 2030.
