Coco Gauff with the Roland Garros 2025 Cup. The American played a great final with Aryna Sabalenka

After three years of Iga Świątek's reign, Paris has a new queen of tennis! Coco Gauff, because that's who we're talking about, became the champion of Roland Garros 2025. After a thrilling duel in three sets, the young American defeated Aryna Sabalenka, thus reaching for her second Grand Slam title - she previously triumphed at the US Open in 2023. Let us recall that Świątek finished the competition under the Eiffel Tower this time at the semi-final stage.
Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka played a fantastic match on Saturday afternoon, which was full of drama and many twists and turns. It was no coincidence that both ladies ended up in the final, because they were the highest seeded in this tournament. On the way to the grand finale, the 21-year-old defeated, among others, the Czech Marie Bouzkova, Ekaterina Aleksandrova, Madison Keys and Lois Boisson. The third one definitely caused her the most problems, with whom she even lost the first set. On the other hand, the Belarusian had theoretically slightly more difficult opponents. The player from Minsk threw overboard, among others , Amanda Anisimova, Olympic champion Qinwen Zheng and our Iga Świątek , and she was the one who entered the most important clash as the favourite of most experts and bookmakers. Gauff and Sabalenka fought on the court not only with each other, but also with very difficult weather conditions.
The gusty wind made it difficult for both tennis players to play, but it didn't stop them from treating their fans to a thrilling spectacle. The Philippe Chatrier Arena was filled to capacity, and fans of the white sport cheered on the participants of this fascinating spectacle.

The final was opened much better by Sabalenka, who quickly took a 4:1 lead. Gauff did not intend to give up and equalized. The biggest fight took place in the tenth game, when the star from Delray Beach showed patience and stoic calmness, defending two set points. Gauff won most of the rallies, consistently waiting for her opponent to make mistakes. Coco got stressed at the end of the opening set, as evidenced by double service faults. The fate of the first set was decided in extra time. In the tie break, the war of nerves fell to Sabalenka. The Belarusian presented herself brilliantly at the net in key moments, often harassing her opponent with effective shortcuts.

Gauff achieved her goal and beamed as she lifted the Suzanne Lenglen Cup aloft, while Sabalenka did not hide her huge disappointment after the match.
- It hurts terribly. I played terribly. Congratulations Coco, you are brave and you were the better player today. I thank my team for their support and I apologize for this horrible final. I will come back stronger - said the experienced tennis player from Minsk, who eliminated our Iga Świątek in the semi-final.
The final chord of the Roland Garros Grand Slam tournament is scheduled for Sunday, June 8. The men's singles grand final will feature Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz and Italian Jannik Sinner.
