Niche watch brand Serica presents unique dress watches. The dial may remind you of something...

In the world of watches, there are models that resemble typical mass production. And those that you can't ignore. Such is the case with the microbrand Serica and their Parade 1174 collection. Do you want to know what makes it unique? Of course you do!
Serica was founded in 2019 by Jérôme Burgert and Gabriel Vachette. Serica watches are designed in France and assembled in Switzerland , a place considered the cradle of precision watchmaking. The brand began its activity with military-style models, such as the Serica 4512 , which referred to field watches.
Until now, it was known for its sporty models. Parade 1174 is the first typical dress watch in the history of the brand, dedicated to more formal and elegant styles. I have to admit that it was a bold step.

The number 1174 in the watch's name is not accidental. It refers to the proportion of 1.174, which defines the unique, oval shape of the case. Instead of the traditional 1:1 proportions, which are used in classic round watches, the Serica Parade 1174 offers a more refined aesthetic, reminiscent of... concert halls, theaters, operas or stadiums.

Although some watch enthusiasts may have the impression that they have seen a case with a similar shape somewhere before. Right?

Shape is one thing. There is also the matter of material, dimensions and finish. The Serica Parade 1174 case is made of 316L stainless steel, known for its durability and corrosion resistance. It is 35 mm wide, 41 mm long and just 8.6 mm thick. Which makes it elegant and perfectly balanced. Perfect for hiding under a shirt cuff. And the satin finish of the side surfaces, contrasting with the polished elements, emphasizes its subtle elegance.
The dial (more on that in a moment) is protected by sapphire glass. And the aforementioned case offers water resistance of 100 meters. Which makes the watch also practical.

The Serica Parade 1174 comes in two dial versions: Black Guilloché and Brass Sunburst. Both feature the same guilloché “S-curve” pattern (wave-like rays) that draws attention and, when exposed to light, creates a hypnotic depth effect. The Black Guilloché dial in deep black is complemented by silver indexes (resembling drops) and slim hands, creating an elegant and sophisticated contrast.

The Brass Sunburst, on the other hand, exudes warmth and luxury with its radiant brass-tone finish. The rest, i.e. the hands and indexes, are identical to the Black Guilloché. Both models offer a timeless aesthetic that perfectly complements the elegant style of the case.

The heart of the Serica Parade 1174 is the Soprod M100 caliber. This is the same movement that the brand uses in its tool watches, for which it has been known until now. The automatic spring winding provides a power reserve of 42 hours. The watch itself is characterized by minimalism in the form of polished hour and minute hands, while the lack of a seconds hand.
Serica 1174 Parade - accordion or philharmonicThe Serica Parade 1174 is a watch that perfectly balances classic beauty with contemporary functionality. Its design - inspired by the proportions of 1.174 - offers exceptional aesthetics and balance that will be appreciated by lovers of both tradition and modernity. The Parade 1174 is also a real eye-catcher. It is worth knowing that the buckle (which fastens the grained calfskin strap) is also oval in shape.

Both versions – Black Guilloché and Brass Sunburst – represent two different facets of the same philosophy. The Black Guilloché model mesmerizes with its depth and rather austere elegance. The Brass Sunburst, on the other hand, radiates warmth and timeless charm. Regardless of the dial color, the new Serica model costs around 1,500 EUR.

Serica Parade 1174 watches go beyond the ordinary concept of a timepiece. These are objects that you wear with pride, enjoying their beauty. The Black Guilloché and Brass Sunburst models are proposals for people who value timeless elegance and unique character. In a world where mass often overshadows individualism, Serica reminded us that true beauty lies in the details.
