Adam Nawałka returns to the Polish national team. Sensational reportsAn experienced journalist spoke with the former coach of the Polish national team. He is said to be interested in returning to the role of national team coach, and moreover, in acting as a "firefighter" in the context of saving the success of the qualifiers for the World Cup 2026.
And this arrangement may be of great interest to the Polish Football Association, headed by president Cezary Kulesza . In the difficult moment of having to jump at least to a play-off place, the Polish team needs a proven, reliable solution.
– I talked to him. He told me that he would agree to coach the national team. Not for a longer period of time, which he once discussed with president Cezary Kulesza. It's not even because of himself, but because of his assistants. [...] He believes that the World Cup qualifiers need to be saved and he is ready to take on the challenge – admitted Kołtoń in “Prawda Futbolu”, also quoted by WP/SportoweFakty.
So the matter is already settled? On the one hand, it would seem that this could indeed be an idea that fits perfectly into the situation in which the national team is. But we must also remember that coach Nawałka as a coach is... Zbigniew Boniek's idea. And "Zibi's" ideas, in terms of president Kulesza's term of office, are rather unpopular. On the contrary, most often it happens according to the principle: as long as it works the other way.
Difficult choices for Cezary Kulesza. Fifth coach of the PolesCezary Kulesza has been the president of the Polish Football Association since August 2021. Previously, in 2016-21, he served as the federation's vice president for professional football.
Kulesza, during his first term as president of the Polish Football Association, has already chosen a new coach of the senior Polish national team several times. It began with a stormy parting with Paulo Sousa, a Portuguese employed by Kulesza's predecessor, Zbigniew Boniek. The Portuguese coach left for the Brazilian league, and in his place the head of the Polish Football Association chose Czesław Michniewicz.
After the 2022 World Cup and the so-called bonus scandal, the Polish Football Association decided not to extend the coach's contract. Michniewicz was then replaced by Fernando Santos. The 2016 European champion with the Portuguese team turned out to be already... on the other side of the river, achieving compromisingly poor results with the Polish national team. This caused the head of the Polish Football Association to make another change, choosing Michał Probierz in September 2023 - well known, among others, from his time working at Jagiellonia Białystok.
As it turned out, the summer of 2025 brought another, fourth change in the position of the coach of the Polish national team. Or, to be more precise, it will bring - already during the second term as the president of the Polish Football Association - officially confirmed on the last day of June this year.
