Kamil Majchrzak's great start in the US. A valuable win.
Kamil Majchrzak once again proves that his form is constantly improving. The Pole won the tournament in Kozerki last week and competed in Winston-Salem on Sunday.
In the first round, the 88th-ranked ATP tennis player faced Nicolas Jarry. He had previously played him once six years ago at the US Open, when Majchrzak prevailed.
On Sunday, we witnessed a very close match. In the first set, both players flawlessly capitalized on their service games. The breakthrough came in the tiebreak. Majchrzak made several errors and was already down 2-5. Then, the Pole took a risk and fought back. He surprised his opponent and soon won the tiebreak 7-6(6).
In the second set, Majchrzak waited for his moment. At 3-3, the Pole broke Jarry, which ultimately proved to be the key to winning the second set and the match.
The Pole faces the second round, in which he will face the Portuguese Nuno Borges.
