Portuguese people admit to spending up to 25 thousand euros on a used car

Buying a used car has been a choice for every six out of ten Portuguese consumers, with 73% being willing to pay up to 25 thousand euros for one, according to a survey by DS Auto.
The data shows that 24% of respondents are willing to spend between 10,000 and 15,000 euros on the purchase of a used car, while 40% admit to spending between 15,000 and 25,000.
According to the questionnaire, 67% of respondents revealed that, if they were to move, they would choose to buy a used vehicle instead of a new one.
Luís Rosa, national coordinating director of DS Auto, states that “it is clear that the used car market continues to be very attractive – along with the increase in the average age of the vehicles themselves – and is experiencing strong demand, reflecting the current economic context, but also the dynamism that has been characterising the sector”.
“When we notice that a large proportion of Portuguese people are willing to pay up to 25,000 euros for a used car, it becomes clear that there is increasing confidence in this market segment, and we believe that it will continue to grow”, says Luís Rosa.
To carry out the survey, DS Auto, a brand specializing in the purchase and sale of cars, collected 263 responses between December 2024 and January 2025.
