Suspect of trying to kill man with axe remanded in custody

The 36-year-old man had been arrested by the Judicial Police (PJ) after having attacked another man, of the same age, next to a café, in the Bairro da Mãe d'Água, in Bragança, on Saturday night.
The two individuals got into an altercation, attacking each other, with the detainee using an axe to hit the other in the head.
In a statement, the PJ explained that the attacks took place “during an argument, for apparently trivial reasons”.
With the collaboration of the Public Security Police (PSP), the PJ identified and arrested this man, who was present at the first judicial interrogation at the Bragança Court, having been applied to him the most serious coercive measure, preventive detention, where he will await the outcome of the process.
The victim was treated at the Bragança hospital, but was transferred to the Santo António Hospital, in Porto.
At a time when information is more important than ever, support regional and local journalism. Access to most of VTM's news is (still) free, but it is not free of charge. Journalism costs money and requires investment. This contribution is a way of directly supporting A Voz de Trás-os-Montes and its journalists. Our contribution is independent and local journalism, but not only that. It is continuing to inform despite all the contingencies of confinement, without having stopped for a single day.
