Israelis receive voice messages from hostages

As Donald Trump had announced, the United States has lifted all sanctions that had been imposed on Syria during the regime of Bashar al-Assad. The end of the sanctions was formalized on Friday night by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who also stated that “authorizations are being implemented to encourage new investment in Syria.”
Gaza's Health Ministry said eleven people had been killed by Israeli strikes since Saturday morning. The information was cited by Al Jazeera , which reported that since Friday morning — that is, in the last 24 hours — Israeli strikes against the Palestinian enclave have killed 76 people.
Israeli citizens are reporting on social media that they began receiving phone calls on Saturday morning, where they could hear voice messages from hostages asking for help. “You could hear something that sounded like a siren in the background. Then someone said that we need to reach an agreement because time is running out,” one of the people who received one of these messages told Haaretz . The Forum representing the hostages and their families issued a statement in which it clarified that it bears no responsibility for the messages.
The Times of Israel added that the hostages’ voices were removed from videos that Hamas usually publishes as proof of life. The National Cyber Directorate, cited by the same newspaper, said it was investigating the origin of the calls and advised citizens to block the phone numbers that sent the messages. It also called the incident “an attempt to create panic.”
