Ukraine denounces Russian missile and drone attack

Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed on Thursday that a branch of the military will be created dedicated to drones, highlighting the significant role they have played in the conflict in Ukraine.

Drones have also been a focus of Ukraine, but the Russian leader stressed that Moscow is not lagging behind. “I don’t believe that we are lagging behind in anything,” he said, as quoted by Reuters . “More precisely, it seems to me that we are gathering good experience with the aim of creating exactly such forces.”

During the night, several explosions were heard in Crimea, a Ukrainian peninsula annexed by Russia in 2014. The information was advanced by Ukrainian media such as Ukrainska Pravda and Ukrinform .

Over the course of more than three years of war, Crimea has been the target of several Ukrainian attacks. A recent operation by the Security Services of Ukraine (SBU) targeted the bridge connecting the peninsula to Russia — the third such attack since 2022.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russian forces launched four ballistic missiles and more than 50 drones into Ukrainian territory overnight.

By 9 am local time, the Air Force had destroyed 43 drones in various areas of the country, it described in a post on the social network Telegram.

According to Ukrainian authorities, nine regions were attacked, including Kharkiv, Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk.
