Young woman arrested on suspicion of assaulting mother and grandmother
An 18-year-old girl was arrested by the GNR for domestic violence against her mother, 51, and her grandmother, 77, who threatened and physically and verbally assaulted them, in the municipality of Serpa, it was announced this Friday.
In a statement, the GNR explained that the young woman was arrested on Wednesday by the Investigation and Support Unit for Specific Victims (NIAVE) in Beja, which belongs to the Territorial Command of that region.
The military received a report of domestic violence that occurred in the town of Vale de Vargo, in the municipality of Serpa, district of Beja.

As a result of the investigation carried out by the GNR, it was found that “the suspect threatened and physically and verbally attacked the victims”, the grandmother and the mother, for which the military carried out an arrest warrant.
The detainee was brought before the Serpa Judicial Court and was released , but is prohibited from contacting the victims, by any means or through other people.
She is also prohibited from approaching her grandmother and mother within a radius of 250 meters, and is monitored by an electronic bracelet.
“ Domestic violence is a public crime and reporting it is a collective responsibility ,” recalled the GNR.
