Biography reveals alleged daughter of Freddie Mercury

He adored me and cherished me like a precious possession ”: the words are part of the first chapter of a new biography of Freddie Mercury and were written by “B”, a 48-year-old woman who claims to be the secret daughter of the Queen frontman. Love, Freddie is Lesley-Ann Jones’ fourth biography of the British singer and will be published in September.

The book is based on 17 diaries that “B” says were written by Freddie Mercury between 1976 and 1991, Lesley-Ann Jones revealed exclusively to the Daily Mail . The biographer told the newspaper that she initially doubted “B’s” story, but that she trusts the veracity of the facts for two reasons: firstly, because the woman wanted to remain anonymous and was not seeking “economic gratification”; secondly, because the diaries are very detailed.

Freddie Mercury is said to have started writing the letters in 1976, when he found out he was going to be a father. According to the book, “B” reported that it was an “accidental” pregnancy after the singer had an affair with the wife of a close friend . The woman was raised by the couple — her mother has since died — but she always knew who her biological father was. What’s more, he claims that Freddie Mercury was a very involved and present father, visiting her frequently and calling her every day, when he was in the studio or on tour.

The singer's alleged secret daughter was known only to a small close circle: Freddie's parents and sister, his three bandmates and his ex-fiancée, friend and main heiress, Mary Austin.

By 1991, the singer had written 555,000 words, according to the biographer. The diaries detail his childhood in Zanzibar — where Farrokh Bulsara was born before he was Freddie —, his youth at a British boarding school in India, and his forced emigration to the United Kingdom. The texts also include stories about the singer’s “ reckless lifestyle ” during his years with Queen, which he asked “B” not to read until he was 25.

The last entry in the diaries is dated July 31, 1991, about three months before Freddie Mercury died of pneumonia, a victim of AIDS. Before he died, the singer is said to have given the diaries to “B” who was 15 years old at the time.

“B” and Lesley-Ann Jones first met in 2022 in Montreux, Switzerland, where the singer lived, after the biographer received a message about the diaries. They then worked together for more than three and a half years to analyze the hundreds of handwritten pages and write the book. Today, Freddie Mercury’s alleged daughter works as a health professional and is a mother .
