Bruno Lage: "I feel like we could have won"

Bruno Lage, Benfica coach, believes that the Eagles could have beaten Boca Juniors in the opening match of the Club World Cup, a game that ended in a 2-2 draw.

Benfica started losing with a two-goal deficit and managed to equalise in the second half, having played with ten men for several minutes after Belotti received a straight red card.

Speaking to DAZN after the final whistle, Lage analyzed the game and explained his initial options.

Analysis : "I feel we should have won, we started well, allowing two goals, but the team had the ability to equalise and I feel we could have won, the second half with only five minutes of injury time is not enough, but that's what the referee saw."

Change and expulsion of Belotti: " We needed more people in the area, with ten we continued with the record, putting men up front, we could have won."

Why Aktur and Kokçu on the bench? "They could have given a different energy, and they did it. It's a shame Belotti was sent off, with two wingers I think we would have pushed Boca closer to the area, we ended up with one less player, but the difference wasn't noticeable."
