Chess: Figueira da Foz hosts international festival

The Figueira da Foz Assembly is once again promoting the Figueira da Foz Chess Festival, considered the most prestigious event of its kind in Portugal.

The “Figueira da Foz Sabir Ali International Tournament”, part of the XIX Figueira da Foz Chess Festival, will take place from November 9th to 16th at the Sweet Atlantic Hotel & Spa, promising intense competition.

In total, the 2025 edition will feature over a hundred players from more than two dozen countries. Many of them belong to the world elite of this game.

Among the players who will be in Figueira da Foz this year, highlights include the presence of nine Grandmasters (two female), nine International Masters (one female), and eleven FIDE Masters (two female).
